The Manhattan Short Film Festival is the first global film festival, taking place in 350 cities around the world and uniting over 100,000 fans of short films every year to participate in interactive voting for the best film of the year. This year, the festival will take place from 27 September to 7 October.
The festival opens with the British film “Baghead,” best thriller of 2018 according to the HollyShorts film festival, and continues with the energetic New Zealand animated film “Fire in Cardboard City,” named the best comedy at the Los Angeles Film Festival. British actor Dev Patel made his first foray into directing and shot a black comedy called “Home Shopper.” A piercing anti-war drama, “Someone,” is based on the real life story of Greta Meininger, an ordinary Berlin resident, who became a witness to the last days of the Second World War. Another female story is told in “Her” (Kosovo), a social drama by director and citizen activist More Raca. A British drama, “Two Strangers Who Meet Five Times,” collected 13 festival awards and shows no signs of stopping.
