23 October, 18:00 – “In the Shadow of Women” (Philippe Garrel)

“My Golden Days” (2015) is the most recent film by Arnaud Desplechin, a master of contemporary narrative films distinguished by their exceptionally personal nature. “My Golden Days” is the story of an anthropologist, Paul (Mathieu Amalric) who, in his ironic and occasionally Proustian manner, revisits the main events, time periods, and characters of his life – his brother, his teachers, and of course, his first and only true love, Esther – whom he met as a schoolboy. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.

“In the Shadow of Women” (2015) is the most recent film by great French director Philippe Garrel, one of the leading figures in Post New Wave film. It is a drama, as light-hearted and clever as it is severe and cutting, about a pair of married filmmakers, whose lives are closely intertwined with cinema and France’s recent history (about which they are currently making a film). The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.

“The Odyssey” (2016) is the largest French adventure film made in recent history. The story of Jean-Jacques Cousteau, a pioneer, revolutionary, dreamer, and romantic, who opened the world’s eyes to “inner space” – the oceans. His expeditions became part of history, but his greatest journey has remained a secret. The film’s premiere took place at the most recent San Sebastien Film Festival. At Pioner, the film will be presented by Jérôme Salle and the lead actor, French film star Lambert Wilson.
