This decade is one of the best periods in the history of Polish animation (and it must be remembered that in the beginning of the 1960s, Poland was among the world's animation leaders). And although it would be impossible to show all the variety of contemporary Polish animation in one screening, this programme in celebration of the 70th anniversary is a testament to the outstanding talent of contemporary Polish animators.
Curator Denis Wiren: "The programme includes films with widely-varying techniques, styles, and attitudes. The majority of them are festival hits which have collected (and continue to collect) prizes on all continents. It's important to underline that three of them ("Impossible Figures and Other Stories II," "Kiska," and "Strange Event") were included in the recently-published Oscar long list for the "Best Animated Short."
