Franz Jagerstatter lived with his family in a tiny Austrian mountain village when the Anschluss occurred. Along with the other men, he was drafted into the army. As a deeply religious Christian, Franz was convinced that Hitler was the embodiment of evil and refused to take an oath. Regardless of the deadly threats to himself and his family, he didn’t compromise and betray his convictions. The film is based on a true story of a modest hero who refused to serve in the Nazi army during World War II.
