As part of the May installment of the “At the Cinema, At Last” series, Pioner will host a “Hitchcock / De Palma” weekend and show two remarkably similar films by the two masters of suspense: Hitchcock’s minimalist masterpiece, “Rear Window,” and the Brian de Palma thriller that it inspired, “Body Double.”

“Body Double” is one of the best thrillers made by Brian De Palma, Hitchcock’s most faithful disciple, who crossed his methods and motifs with the baroque post-modernism of the 80s. “Body Double” is an homage not just to “Rear Window,” but to “Vertigo,” a stylistically refined story of spying, seduction, obsession, deception, and of course, murder. The favorite film of Patrick Bateman, the hero of Bret Easton Ellis’s “American Psycho.” Melanie Griffith stars.

The film will be shown in DCP format.
