The exquisite aesthete and visionary François Ozon shot his first film based on a true story, peeling back the curtain of secrecy guarding one of the greatest scandals in existence — pedophilia in the Catholic Church. Three men whose fates were forever changed by the harm they suffered as children come together to finally achieve justice. They face a powerful system that has grown used to protecting its own over the years, and a conservative society that doesn’t want to hear an inconvenient truth. But even more dangerous are their own traumas, which they have hidden inside for years and which threaten to ruin the fragile balance they have achieved only with the help of an enormous amount of spiritual effort.
This film was a sensation at the 2019 Berlin Film Festival and won the Silver Bear for best direction, the Grand Prix of the jury.
