“Elixir” is the full-length debut of artist and director Daniil Zinchenko, a graduate of the Rodchenko School and successor to the school of Russian cosmism. It is a contemporary fairy tale, featuring heroes of Russian lore – scientists, partisans, cosmonauts, bureaucrats, and Mother Russia herself. The place where the horizon and outer space, Platonov and Tsiolkovsky, the partisan and the cosmonaut all come together – there where the search for an elixir to bring the dead back to life in underway...

Elixir is a rare example in Russian cinema of a film that straddles the line between cinema and contemporary art, all inspired by the prose of Andrey Platonov. The film was filmed in the CINE-FANTOM studio (fundraising was done by the creators themselves, with the help of a crowdfunding project) and was presented in February at the 2016 Berlin Film Festival as part of the Forum programme.
