At Pioner on Kutuzovsky, we will hold special screenings of Johann Johannsson's film "Last and First Men," narrated by Tilda Swinton. On 6 August, the film will be presented by film critic Zinaida Pronchenko; on 8 August, by Pioner's director of special projects Egor Sennikov!
This hypnotic film adaptation of the Olaf Stapledon's science fiction novel "Last and First Men: A Story of the Near and Far Future" was the first and last directorial work by composer Johann Johannsson, who died in 2018. The film takes place two billion years later, as humanity is on the verge of extinction. All that is left on Earth are giant monuments, silent witnesses to a thousand years of history, which in the film find a voice that dispassionately tells about the decline of civilization.
