Afghanistan, 1988. The war is ending, and the 108th Motorized Infantry Division must retreat through a mountain crossing controlled by the mujahideen. The intelligence corps tries to get them to agree to a ceasefire, but the situation becomes more complicated when a Soviet pilot falls captive to the militants. While the military leadership is playing their complex game, involving staff officers, Islamists, Afghan bureaucrats and members of the special forcers, the reconnaissance soldiers follow their main rule: leave no man behind. But any mistake here can cost them their lives.
