Leningrad, 1981. The 19-year old and still-unknown Viktor Tsoi makes the acquaintance of the lead singer of “Zoopark,” Mike Naumenko, and his wife, Natalya. Thus begins a summer of love, music, and youth that seems like a series of endless hopes and desires ready to come true. A summer when the famous Leningrad rock club was founded and the first Kino album was recorded. A summer on the verge of a new era – in both music and the life of the whole country.
The world premiere of Kirill Serebrennikov’s film took place at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, where it earned an award for best soundtrack (Roman Bilyk and German Osipov).
