A boring vacation in the deep woods seems like pure punishment to the young Mary. But in the last week of summer, everything suddenly changes. A black cat named Tib helps her to find a magical flower, thanks to which Mary gets the ability to fly on a broom. Mary finds herself in Endor, a school for witches, where the headmistress, Madam Mumblechook, takes her to be a new (and promising) student.

A new animated work by Hiromasa Yonebayashi, whose previous animated film, "When Marnie Was There," was worthy of an Oscar nomination. Director and animator Hiromasa Yonebayashi, raised in the traditions of Hayao Miyazaki, worked on "Princess Mononoke," "Spirited Away," and "Ponyo," while his debut film, "The Secret World of Arrietty," made him the youngest director in the famous Studio Ghibli.
