“My Own Private Idaho” is required viewing in the history of independent American film of the 90s, and presented a new take on romanticism and sensitivity. It is the story of two friends from Portland (Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix), who wander around the deserted corners of America in search of a home, love, and care. It is an innovative road trip movie, in which the heroes’ trip has neither a trajectory nor a destination. “My Own Private Idaho” truly revealed the talent of the twenty-year-old River Phoenix – at that moment a rising star in Hollywood, who was tragically killed two years after the film’s release. The film took part in the concourse at the Venice Film Festival, where Phoenix received Best Actor.
The film will be shown in DCP format.
