“Nude” is a film by Olesya Fokina, a director who has won awards at international festivals and the Nika and Golden Eagle national film prizes. “Without love, life is meaningless”—this is the chief message in this film about young people who reject self-profit and self-obsession in spite of popular opinions about today’s “shameless generation,” striving instead for self-restraint and the defense of both humanity and love. The heroes of the film are open and vulnerable, like anything young, alive, flexible, and growing in strength. They’re ready to break ties, cross boundaries, hit the road, and stand up for justice. Each of them carries the spirit of their time. The film was shot in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, the banks of the Volga, and in Vladivostok.
