In Saint Petersburg, it’s easy to fall in love. Here, people go on flings without a second thought, change their work clothes for eveningwear in the blink of an eye, and are ready to trust their fate to a fortune teller. In this city, it sometimes seems that if you jump from a roof, you could very well fly; that the bronze sculptures just barely come alive; and that Joseph Brodsky can still be saved if only you would make a film about him.
“Petersburg: A Selfie” is comprised of seven stories about the most beautiful city in Russia, filmed by female directors. A film “almanac,” written with an especially light touch, which depicts St. Petersburg as mythical, but still real, alive, and visible to all.
