This is a story about a precocious 10-year-old girl from London named Sophie who accidentally discovers Giant Country. At the beginning, she is afraid of the gigantic monster who dragged her into its cave. But soon Sophie realizes that the Giant is actually a very polite and charming creature. This big friendly giant (as he calls himself) takes Sophie away to Dream Country, where he catches dreams and gives them to children that can’t fall asleep. The giant teaches Sophie the basics of magic and tells her all about the magical properties of dreams. Unfortunately, Sophie’s presence in the Land of Giants has attracted the unwanted attention of the local population – some angry Giants who could not help but notice that an outsider has snuck into their country against their wishes...
A new adventure film by Steven Spielberg, who has rebounded from his retro-thriller “Bridge of Spies” to make another fairy tale for the whole family, in the spirit of his unforgettable “E.T.” A screen adaptation of the classic Roald Dahl (“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”) novel.
