During the Armenian genocide in 1915 Nazaret Manoogian loses his family. Several years later, he learns that his twin daughters might have survived and decides to go on a quest to find them. He sets out from his home village Mardin and reaches a desert in Mesopotamia and then goes to Havana and North Dakota.
An epic drama, directed by Fatih Akin, a German-Turkish filmmaker, and starring Tahar Rahim (“A Prophet”). The film is about the Armenian genocide in Turkey, which still has not been officially recognised by the country. It was screened at the Venice Film Festival.
