The screening of Mario Puzo’s novel is the greatest and most famous work of the American classic. It took the authors twenty years to produce the trilogy, and it brought them several Oscars, including awards for the best film (“The Godfather,” “The Godfather: Part II”), best director (“The Godfather: Part II”) and best actor in a leading role (Marlon Brando, “The Godfather”).
The criminal epos covers almost the whole 20th century that we live with the main characters — the members of Corleone family, a Sicilian mafia clan living in New York.
“The Godfather” is a masterpiece of both auteur and Hollywood cinema. The film has united the grand American style with the refined modus operandi of Coppola, and gathered almost all the main American actors of the 20th century — from Marlon Brando and Robert Duvall to Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, from Diane Keaton and James Caan to Bridget Fonda and Andy Garcia.
Pioner Cinema features the restored version of the whole trilogy with English audio and Russian subtitles. The film will be shown be shown in 35mm print.
