Lisa is your average wife and mother, living with her husband and family in the New York suburbs. She's been working as a kindergarten teacher for twenty years now, but her life has turned into a banal routine. Her only source of relief are her poetry courses. But neither the charismatic teacher or her loving husband take Lisa's literary attempts seriously, and her teenage children have completely separated themselves from their mother. One day, she hears one of her five-year-old students mumbling something that sounds to her very much like a brilliant poem. The teacher becomes so excited by the boy and his talents that it turns into a real obsession and leads to dangerous consequences.
