In 1940, Rose, in an effort to save herself from German bombings, leaves Belfast for a small provincial town. The male population is set astir by her appearance - Rose is too beautiful and too independent for a conservative Irish backwater like theirs, where a girl doesn't even have the right to look a man in the eyes before marriage. Soon, she falls in love with military pilot Michael McNulty, and it seems that their union will soon prove to be a happy one for them both. However, the young priest Father Gaunt is also passionately in love with Rose, and accuses her of debauchery and nymphomania. This proves enough to have her committed to a psychiatric clinic.
A story of love and betrayal from six-time Oscar nominee, Jim Sheridan. The leading roles are played by Aidan Turner, Rooney Mara, and Theo James. Mikhail Krichman ("Leviathan," "Elena," "Silent Souls").
