The beginning of 1960s, Cambridge University. The film tells the story of the relationship between the renowned physicist Stephen Hawking and his wife Jane Wilde, who then were fellow students. The film is about Hawking’s dramatic struggle with motor neuron disease, which gradually paralises the young scientist. Doctors give him merely two years to live, but Stephen Hawking defies both science and destiny, becoming one of the most acclaimed theoretical physicists and far outliving the prognosis.
One of the major British films of the year. It is based on the memoir “Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen” by Jane Hawking. The film won the Academy Award, the Golden Globe Award and the BAFTA Award for Best Actor (Eddie Redmayne).
