Pioner Cinema and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Moscow present the Film on a Plate festival, which will take place from 21–24 November as part of The Extraordinary Italian Taste. The festival will take the form of a retrospective of Italian films, which participated in and won both Italian and international competitions. One of the films will be “Welcome to the South 2”/“No More Religion” (Non c'è più religione)!
In the process of getting ready for Christmas, the residents of a tiny Italian island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea encounter a serious problem. For many years now, there have been no children born on the island, so there’s nobody to play the role of the baby Jesus in the traditional Christmas pageant with the gifts of the Magi, and the boy who played the role earlier is already far too large. There is, of course, one option: “borrowing” a baby from the Tunisian diaspora, but they’re Muslims, so the idea seems to be a little unorthodox to many—both Tunisians and Italians. When the discussion hits a wall, the nun Marta and the head of the Tunisian diaspora, Bilal (who had previously been an Italian and later converted to Islam) decide to take the diplomatic negotiations into their own hands.
